The Our Church Thinks We're Dating movie tells the story of Jess, a pastor's daughter, who finds herself in a fake relationship with her longtime friend Alex when she blurts out they're dating at her best friend's destination wedding. As the last single people in their church group, they agree to go "full RomCom" to keep up the ruse, navigating a checklist of romantic movie tropes.
Their fake dating charade throws the wedding party into chaos, threatening to upstage the bride and groom. Amidst the romantic confusion, Jess and Alex's friendship is tested, while those around them question their own relationships.
